A note from Jan Narveson – President of KWCMS
“ I was really impressed, even thrilled, when I first heard the ‘Bax Piano Quintet’, ( Quintet in G minor ). Bax picks up all the late-romantic and post-romantic pieces and puts them together in a wonderfully vivid, very listenable, and often inspiring huge work , which I think our patrons will love. It is true that it does not quite have the same amazing logical structure as the famous Brahms quintet, however, it is not too far from it with respect to the wealth of melodies which Bax employs. His effectiveness in using musical devices which makes those melodies sing the way they should, is very exciting and intriguing. All in all, this ‘Bax Quintet’ is a major “find ” – I am looking forward to share this opportunity with our audience and that we all will enjoy hearing this rare quintet performed in my upcoming season music series.”
